Spinosaurids of Igea, La Rioja

The fossil remains presented correspond to the first almost complete arm of a Spinosaurid found in the peninsula. These were found at the #LowerCretaceous #Virgen del Villar 2 site in the town of Igea, La Rioja, by the excavation team nicknamed #GARRAS, to which I have the pleasure of belonging.
This arm is only a small part of all the remains that we found in this site and we hope that they are not the last.
With the first estimates we calculate that it may become the most complete #Spinosaurid on the peninsula and possibly in Europe, making this one of the most important discoveries in the history of paleontology in #LaRioja and #Spain.
However, we will have to wait for the official scientific publication of all the remains to find out more about this Spinosaurid 📝🚫

Congratulations to our directors @patxisb
And Xabier Pereda for his fantastic intervention and the entire GARRAS team. In addition, together with the remains, the corporeal model of the arm made by the art company icraart was presented, which as a paleoartist I greatly admire their work.

It has been a pleasure to be able to participate in its excavation, the subsequent restoration of the fossils and to be able to provide the first paleoillustration of this animal 🎨
