Maevarano Formation, Masiakasaurus & Beelzebufo - 2023

Paleoartistic reconstruction of the Maevarano Formation
In Mahajanga Province, northwest of #Madagascar during the Maastrichtian, terminal Cretaceous (70 to 65 m, y) a female #Masiakasaurus chases the #Beelzebufo amphibian in a pond in the middle of the forest. Not far from there, the #Simosuchus crocodile takes an interest in the scene. #Rahonavis fly over and chase dragonflies nearby, taking advantage of the commotion created by the huge #Rapetosaurus sauropods that cross the dense forest.
